Woodland Sculptures

Several pieces of wood in the Chi Rho Arts collection were all of one kind – one size, one age, one tree, and apparently the work of one woodsman with one exception.  Being longer and because of its varied but formal contour, it never lent itself as an interesting nor artistic subject. One day, still hopeful, it was given another searching inspection.  The result was the discovery of a human profile in one of its curves that overcame all its objectionable qualities.  On the same day a friend came into the workroom with a very attractive rock.  The once too formal piece of wood was placed on it and given that placing permanently along with its title.  An old, dried up, black walnut found in a little box labeled “Misc. Nuts” serves as a world.
